About A Forager's Diary

Welcome, wanderer.

I’m thrilled you’ve found your way here to A Forager’s Diary, where the rhythm of the seasons guides our steps and every plant and mushroom has a story to tell.

As a naturalist and herbalist with over a decade of experience guiding others to connect with nature and themselves, I’ve spent countless days exploring forests, meadows, and riverbanks in the Southwest, Pacific Northwest, and New England. My life’s work has been rooted in teaching earth skills, cultivating reverence for the land, and sparking curiosity about the interconnectedness of all things.

This Substack is a natural extension of that passion. It’s a place to share the deep magic of the Pacific Northwest’s flora and fungi—a space where science meets spirituality, and field guides weave together with folklore. Each week, we’ll spotlight a seasonal plant or mushroom, diving into its ecology, history, and creative uses. There will be stories that linger like campfire smoke, recipes that nourish more than just the body, and musings that remind us of our belonging to the earth.

A Forager’s Diary isn’t just a journal of the wild. It’s a call to rekindle your relationship with the living world around you. Whether you’re a seasoned forager or just beginning to see the magic in moss and mushrooms, this is a place to grow roots and find inspiration.

So, let’s step into the forest together. Let’s listen for the whispers of nettles and the hum of elderberries. Let’s follow the trails left by those who walked before us, as we write new stories with the land.

Thank you for joining me on this journey. Let’s forage, learn, and connect.
